How long the trip actually takes The distance between the airport and Makkah is about 95 kilometres and takes an hour and a quarter in normal conditions. In peak periods — Ramadan and school holidays — it can stretch to two hours, so allow extra time if you have a fixed appointment.
Choose the car by luggage, not by headcount The most common mistake is booking a car with exactly as many seats as there are people in your family. Pilgrims usually carry one large suitcase each, so four people with four large cases do not fit a sedan. Choose the Staria or Hiace when there is a lot of luggage.
