A Guide to the Holy Sites Around Madinah

Madinah is full of places that tell the story of the Prophet's life. This is a guide to the main sites and how to order a visit.

The main sites Quba Mosque, the first mosque built in Islam. Praying there carries a particular virtue, and it is relatively close to the central area.

Mount Uhud, the battlefield and the martyrs' cemetery. The site is open and exposed, so visit at a cooler time of day.

The Seven Mosques, a cluster of small mosques in the Khandaq area.

Qiblatayn Mosque, where the qiblah changed to the Kaaba during prayer.

Al Baqi Cemetery, immediately beside the Prophet's Mosque.

Abyar Ali, the miqat for the people of Madinah for anyone entering ihram.

How long you need The Madinah circuit is shorter than Makkah's because the sites are closer together. Two to four hours covers the main locations comfortably.

The Badr battlefield — a separate trip Badr is about 150 km from Madinah, roughly an hour and a half each way. It is therefore not part of the standard ziyarat circuit and counts as its own half-day trip. Tell us in advance if you want to add it.

Timing Quba Mosque is busy after Fajr and on Fridays. Mount Uhud is best early in the morning or before sunset.

How we arrange it The car stays with you throughout, with a driver who knows the sites and when they get busy. Fares start at 200 SAR, and the itinerary can be arranged around your time and priorities.
